Need a new digital camera... Any suggestions?

I want to purchase a new digital camera tomorrow but I really am not sure what is good out there.. I just want a small slim one for taking pictures of friends, family, you know normal things. I had a casio exilim but I dropped it and it broke, the lens wouldn't go back in lol, I really liked that one it had 10megapixels and 3x zoom.. I currently have a SVP XThinn camera with 12 megapixels but I don't like the way it makes people look when it takes pictures, the flash is outrageous and makes you look crazy bright lol... What's a good one out there now? Like the most popular I guess... Thanks :)
