Chapter 35 VA benefits, Christmas Break?

I am in college and I'm receiving ch. 35 VA benefits- I'm wondering if the checks stay the same every month. I have heard that they pay you by the day, and since there's that huge break in January you only get paid for like 5 days of school. Is this true, or do they ration your checks so that you get paid over that break?
